Autumn in Iceland: what to do?

Geothermal water
The great thing about Icelandic outdoor pools is that they have geothermal water, so they are warm and nice even in a bad weather conditions. There are many of them across the country, so don't worry there will be some hot spring around you! In case you are in Reykjavik, we would highly recommend to go to Blue Lagoon, which is located on the way to Keflavik International Airport.

Travel around
As it might be not very pleasant to walk in bad weather, it is a great time to rent a car in Reykjavik and explore the surrounding areas. In case you don't have much time, you can take a Golden Circle route or go to West Iceland. The nature is exceptionally breathtaking in autumn, so it would be a great way to spend your time in Iceland.

Northern lights
One of the most popular activities in Iceland during autumn and winter is to capture Aurora Borealis. There are many tours, which will offer you trips to watch Northern lights, however we would highly recommend to rent a car in Reykjavik and to hunt this nature phenomenon on your own. Sheep roundup
Autumn is famous for annual sheep roundup, where farms check their animals. It is a very interesting process with friendly and cozy atmosphere. In case you want to get closer to the nature and enjoy spending time with locals, this is a great opportunity for you. This activity would be perfect for children, as they would have a chance to meet Icelandic sheep and horses.
